05/09/2026 PLPOA Board Meeting

Call To Order

  • Beth Bush called the meeting to order at 10:08.

  • Board members present:  Beth Bush, John Hedstrom, Jim Henderson, Ed Hummelt, Fred Koch, Jim Nagle, Jeff Price, Julie Verhaalen, Beth Wells.

  • Beth Bush reviewed action items since the last meeting.

April Board Meeting Minutes

  •  April meeting minutes were approved as amended. 

Treasurer’s Report

  • Jim Henderson gave brief report of our current financial

  • There is not much to report.  We remain prepared for upcoming potential expenses. 

Lake Health

  • Survey will be done on May 11.

  • Golden Sands received a grant for $171K.  We might work with them to determine how they handled their grant application.  

  • Fred Koch will make the contact with Beth Wells.

  • Jeff Price raised the issue of potentially dredging the west lobe of the lake – we will table this.

Seagulls 

  • Ed Hummelt walked us through a PPT on seagulls—their impact on the lake, their behavior, how they can be controlled, and steps we can and cannot take. 

  • Seagull numbers are back to “normal” following an influx in the spring.

  • Ed will monitor the seagull situation.

New Members

  • We are following up with various members, however at this point, we do not appear to have enough volunteers to replace the members who are leaving the board. 

  • We are planning to move forward with 7 members.

  • Continue to canvas members.

Annual Meeting

  • Beth Bush presented a draft of the agenda for the annual meeting.  It is essentially the same as the agendas for the past several years. 

  • There was discussion about how to handle the election.

  • Assignments were made regarding who will speak and lead each agenda item. 

  • We decided to have ballots available in the event new nominees from the floor arise.

  • Beth Bush, Julie Verhaalen, and Beth Wells will be a subcommittee to plan the annual meeting.

Water Testing

  • Recent lake testing revealed positive news about the lake water. Specifically, 

    • The water is clear with 28 feet clarity. 

    • Water quality is listed as “beautiful”.

    • The color of the lake is blue.

  • Jim Nagle is sending a sample of lake water to UWSP and will have more detailed results in 4-6 weeks.

  • Water testing kits will be available to the residents at the annual meeting.  

    • Two different tests will be available.   

    • Basic kits $31, more advanced kits $80-90.

  • On the July 7th samples will be picked up by Jim who will take them to the UWSP. 

  • Owners will see their own results, but results will be anonymous to the larger group.

  • Pay when drop off the bottle.  

Springwater Township Annual Meeting

Beth Bush presented information on the Springwater Township meeting, however there was little of significance for Pine Lake. 

Picnic

  • Beth Bush led a cursory review of supplies and preparations for the Annual Picnic

  • Picnic will be on Saturday, July 25.

  • The Kleutgen family has graciously agreed to host the picnic again.

  • Major rental items have been reserved at Wood Street Rentals (Jeff Wiesman’s business) including 

    • A large trailer-mounted gas grill.

    • Bouncy House

    • Dunk Tank

Lake Map and Directory

  • Julie Verhaalen will get Jeff Price the map files and directory files. 

  • Jeff Price will get approximately 100 maps printed on heavy-stock paper.

  • Maps will be distributed at the annual meeting.

Adjournment

  • The next meeting will take place on June 13 at 9:30 at Beth Bush’s house.
